The Wright Brother's Diary

5 Months to the day

Soooo, Mom and Dad are trying to “add some structure” to my life. I don’t know what structure is yet, but it sure is upsetting my day. Like now, all of the sudden, the want me to go to bed at 9 pm. I party like a rock star at night- this will definitely cramp my style! I am usually “hittin the bottle” til’ after midnight. Mom said something to Dad tonight about “giving me an early bath, reading a book, then off to bed.” Now, I do enjoy a good fairy tale – but, come on! I tend to put up a good fight. My charisma is my only hope, the parentals cannot resist my charms:)

Went to Granny and Papa’s weekend before last so mom and dad could go out on a “date.” Don’t know what that means, but they said I’d know when I get older. Whatever. At least I had Granny and Papa at my beck and call for a few hours. That’s always fun!

Hey, I wanted to show all of you my new quilt! It was handmade, just for me (you can tell, because my name is on it). It was a gift from my neighbors, Mike and Judy – and Judy made it all by herself (she is incredibly talented.) I just love it! It is fun to look at all of the animals. I am, also, drawn to the bright colors. The quilt is very special, (Mom got a little teary eyed when Judy gave it to us) I know I will treasure it forever. We have the perfect spot to hang it, on my bedroom wall.

My good friend Sophie came over last week. Sophie is 3, and I guess, she is like a princess or something. But, even though she is royalty, she can still relate with the common folk. We played on the floor for a while, I was showing her how I roll over (this seems to impress the ladies) and she watched me stand up. She played it off, but I know she was impressed. Turns out, Sophie likes “The Wonder Pets,” too. So, we watched an episode. I thought it was pretty cool that she knew all of the songs. We were having a great time, then I kind of fell asleep on Sophie’s Mom – Auntie Nicole.

So then this weekend, mom and dad took me to the Woodland Park Zoo. It was kind of cold and we saw some strange looking creatures. There was one that was HUGE and really, really weird looking. I think it had 5 legs. And big white horns! Anyway, it was pretty cool. Mom said she’s going to be taking me there a lot this summer.

Oh yeah, I weigh 20 lbs now! And I’m eating all sorts of new food. I really like peaches, prunes, carrots, sweet potates, banannas, apples, and even peas if they’re the sweet kind. The regular kind are nasty.
Okay, my little hands are cramping up and I gotta go watch Wonder Pets now!
Bye!

    Hi Chase,
We were reading your diary tonight and Josh & Austin got the biggest kick out of all your pictures and your stories. They just don’t understand how such a little guy has so many things to say already! I think you have impressed them, & that’s not always easy to do, so good job! They were very jealous of your pictures @ the zoo and wanted to know why they haven’t gone there. They don’t quite understand geography yet. They do know you are their cousin, so are pretty excited to meet you. We hope that won’t be much longer…you’re so far advanced as it is! 🙂
Keep making entries as we love to keep tabs on you!
    Love you,
    Sean, Leslie, Josh & Austin

Hey Chaser, I just can’t believe how much you are changing in such a short time. It looks like you are getting plenty of attention from lots of great friends and family, you are one lucky guy!
I love the picture of you and mom. It is kind of a look of defiance, with the bottom lip pushed out and the steely glare! Keep practicing that look…. it will come in handy when you meet “Uncle you know who”. I don’t want to say his name, because he is the kind to hold a grudge. Just last week he accused me of shooting some model car of his with my bow and arrow when we were like 10 years old. I think he makes this stuff up, but I was thinking of putting a model car together for him, with one little modification…I was going to glue a big arrow right through the middle of it. What do you think? Would you see humor in that? Let me know and we’ll do it.
We are trying to set a date so you can meet the rest of the family soon, I know they are all excited and am sure they will be very impressed.
I know I get a bit long winded but am so glad to follow your progress and miss you buddy….love Granpa B

P.S. I know there is a “D” in GranDpa, but just leave it out on purpose just to be different, I know you understand why. I bet 10 people have told me that I am spelling it wrong. I normally thank them for pointing this out to me, since they obviously feel the need to assist me with their superior knowledge of the English language. I then ask them to assist me with spelling a few other words that I have personally selected for them. You will understand many years from now.
