The Wright Brother's Diary

Mom’s letter about me.

This is a letter Mom wrote to her sister’s.  Just a little update, and I thought it was easier to use this letter than write my own update:) I know, it’s cheating- but give me a break- I am a busy guy! Plus, I like to hear Mom talk about me- she thinks I am the cat’s meow.  My Aunt Hollie is having a little baby boy soon.  I can’t wait to meet him!  So, here is the letter:

This is his thing lately. Hanging on things and swinging. He loves it! Such a thrill!
If the bar is high up, he will stand under it and say, “Mom.” (He already calls me Mom, he only calls me Mommy if he is upset.) When I go to help him he says, “Up, peas.” He is just so cute!

I love his little voice. He says just about every word now. And is using three to four words in a sentence. Yesterday I said, “Chase, what would you like for breakfast?” And he said, “Eggs and Ham.” Just that clearly. He is such a boy! (Normally, I give him two choices- but now he just knows what he wants.)

He loves to play games that include the alphabet, and he knows all of the letters (not in order or anything.) He loves looking at signs or t-shirts and he will point to each letter and tell me what it is. (He does have favorite letters, and we have to stop and look at those more often, and talk about them and make the sounds the letter makes. He is quite serious about this:) He loves Volkswagons. He calls them “W cars.” Because the logo has a W in it. He makes everything seem so simple and literally just tells it like it is.

I think my favorite thing about Chase is that when I put him to bed, I tell him I love him and he just lays in bed, ready to go to sleep and he looks at me and says, “Mommy and Chase.” Damn, he’s good:) He also pats Chris and I on the head and says’ “Nice Mommy,” or “Nice Daddy.” It is pretty rewarding.

I wish you could all see him more often. He is just becoming a little boy. He is able to communicate now, and he says the sweetest things. (Well, it’s not always so sweet. He can be quite the turkey.) One of his favorite things to do is dig holes in the garden. We have special areas in the garden set aside, just for him to do so. And, he likes to play with the hose and water the garden, too. He looks so proud of himself as he completely floods one area and makes mud. It is so cute. He really thinks he is helping (and he does). He even pull weeds. I love it. He feels so good about himself when he helps us do things. I just love the look on his face when he is pleased with himself. He has a very shy little smile. He is so sweet.

I just wanted to let you guys know how he is doing and what he is up to. I could go on about him forever! But, I think this is enough if an update for you. Little too much information, but I just think everything he does is incredible. I just wanted you to know all of the fun things he does. He really is such a nice and good person. We are so lucky!

Watching Chase grow is bitter-sweet. I love every new thing he does and I really like the person he is becoming- he is just a really cool and good little guy. But, the time is just going by so fast, and he is not a baby anymore.

I’m excited for you Hollie! You can’t even explain to someone what Motherhood is like and until you have a baby, you can’t comprehend it. I am so happy that you will have this joy in your life. (Some other -not so joyful- things come with that joy, but it just makes it even more rewarding.) You are going to be such a great Mom, because you’re such a great person!

Cheers!
