Chase goes to a great school. He has a wonderful teacher. The students in his class are so nice. I love sending him there everyday, and he loves going. I work in the classroom every other week and I signed up to help with the Holiday party. His teacher brought in cookies for the class and let each kid decorate 7 cookies. They got to eat 2 after PE and bring the rest home to share with their families. They worked happily and peacefully for the whole party. They were so good about sharing the frosting and sprinkles. They are just too cute! Chase’s friend Matin actually cleaned Chase’s face off with a baby wipe. He told me, “your son was a little messy, but I cleaned him up”. He is so sweet- such a good boy. He even brought a present and card for Chase to go under the tree. They write little letters to each other and smile every time they meet up.
Chase is so happy in Kindergarten and he’s doing so well- in every way imaginable. Today the teacher’s assistant asked me if I was putting Chase in the gifted program next year. There are moments in your life where joy just overtakes your body. When you get married. The first time you hold your child. A sunny day swimming and playing with your family. And when a teacher thinks your child is gifted. I maintained a cool demeanor, but my face actually hurt from trying not to show the joy I felt.
Chase is so confident in class. When the teacher asks a question, he raises his hand and answers clearly. He has made good friends- and he’s a good friend to them (most of the time). He’s working well with others. Clipping up daily on the good behavior chart. He volunteers to help out in class and to participate in the activities.
I love getting to be a fly on the wall. I love seeing this independent, confident kid. He is just growing and learning and thriving. He just took on skiing, on top of swimming and gymnastics (which he does twice a week). I asked him if he wanted to cut back one activity a week during ski season, he insisted he could do it. I believe him. Amazing kid!!
