The Wright Brother's Diary

Sleepless in…

I know- too cheesy to even finish. Chase is a night owl just like me and Chris. Tonight he came in to my room around 10:30, to check on me. (I had gone to bed early because i wasn’t feeling well.) I was getting ready to watch a movie so I asked him if he wanted to watch with me. We ended up watching DreamWorks Christmas shorts. It was a nice way to end the day, especially after the argument we had this afternoon on our way to gymnastics. While we were watching the movie, Chase said to me, “I’m going to remember this forever”. Just to make sure he does, I took pictures. They are blurry because the flash was making Chase laugh and our eyes are closed because the flash was SO bright. After the movie, Chase went to bed without an argument (of course it was almost midnight), as he was leaving my room he turned and said, “I hope you’re feeling better Mom”. Sigh- now I am:). I love him. These are the moments I cherish, the simple ones, when we are just hanging out together.

There is a moment everyday when I am aware of the boy Chase has become. When I watch him drink a bottle if water and screw the cap back on, without fumbling fingers or asking for help. When he figures out how to reach something up high. When he makes a snack or gets an apple, and offers one for Sawyer too. When he comes out of his room in the morning already dressed. Watching him ride his bike- he’s fast and fearless. He climbs to the top of trees, and doesn’t need help getting down. He is a boy now, there is hardly a trace of baby left- unless he’s sick or having a bad day (which I shamelessly enjoy at times).

Now it’s time for me to watch a movie- and when I say watch a movie, I mean spend 30 minutes picking one out and falling asleep during the opening credits are even over.
