The Wright Brother's Diary

Growing up.

Tonight Chase got to stay up late to watch Transformers: Dark of the Moon. It’s definitely not age appropriate, but he’s watched the first 2 and the only parts that interest him are watching the cars transform and the scenes with the Autobots. It was a special date night and I think he deserves to have occasional nights where he can stay up later and enjoy big boy things that Sawyer can not. We cuddled in a blanket and shared a cupcake. It was pretty great. About half way through, he seemed a little scared. I told him, we could watch something else and maybe finish this during the daytime (Deceptions don’t seem as scary in daylight). He told me that even though he’s getting bigger things still scare him sometimes like a little guy. That was a pretty mature decision on his part, a grown up choice that he made for himself- pretty wise. I told him so. He smiled and gave me a huge hug! I slept in his bottom bunk while he fell asleep. I don’t like when Chase gets scared, but I love the those moments when I’m reminded of how sweet and fragile Chase is. That he is still a little guy. He’s doing so many impressive, big guy things now, it’s easy to forget. I put a lot of demands on him and our expectations are high, a lot of weight for a little guy to carry.
